United Way of Orange County partnered for the first time with Orange County Audiology & Hearing Aids and ReSound, with generous funding support from Dow, to support the return of the Gift of Hearing Giveaway—an initiative designed to improve quality of life for Orange County residents experiencing hearing loss who face financial barriers to care.
Through this year’s program, two Orange County residents received high-quality hearing aids at no cost. For individuals living with untreated hearing loss, access to hearing care can be life-changing—restoring communication, strengthening relationships, and improving overall health and well-being. However, the cost of hearing aids and audiology services often places this essential care out of reach for many families.
“The Gift of Hearing Giveaway reflected what community partnership looks like in action,” said Maureen McAllister, President and CEO of United Way of Orange County. “For many people in our community, hearing loss created real barriers to meaningful conversation, connection, and daily interaction with loved ones. Through partnerships like this, we were able to remove those barriers and help restore connection and dignity.”
Recipients selected for this year’s giveaway expressed deep gratitude and were visibly moved by the impact this gift will have on their lives and families. One recipient shared that hearing loss had limited their ability to participate in everyday conversations, making this gift especially meaningful for reconnecting with loved ones. The Gift of Hearing Giveaway offered not only hearing aids, but renewed access to relationships and improved quality of life.
